A lovely client came to JahRoc in search of a functional but uniquely designed desk for his new office. His office was narrow and long with a window view at the end. His wish list was to sit at an angle looking towards the view, with a long surface to work on and to meet with clients over. A modesty panel was a must and a couple of functional drawers, and the rest he left up to Gary to design.
With a brief like this, for Gary, it is all about finding the right piece of timber to make it work and create something of heirloom quality.. Gary wanted to use a single slab which had to have the right shape and be long enough to do the cut and fold edge down one end. And he found it!
Out of a pack of salvaged Marri slabs that Gary and Dave have had drying in the yard for over 10 years, came the Family Tree Dining Table a year ago, and now the new desk named the Family Tree Executive Desk. Read our blog story about the provenance of the salvaged Marri slabs here.
